Information Concerning Urine Drug Testing

After consumption, each drug biologically changes into a specific and unique �metabolite.� Those metabolites quickly make their way into our bladder (and saliva) prior to urine excretion. Interestingly, urine drug tests and saliva drug tests actually look for metabolites, not for drugs. A metabolite can reach levels that can be detected by a test within hours after a drug is consumed, can remain at those detectable levels for days or weeks, and can be quite different from substance to substance. Factors such as �how long,� �how much,� and �how often� have a significant impact on detection periods. In addition, metabolites usually remain at detectable levels much longer in our urine than in our saliva; THC is one exception.
